Like, I get why cis, white, straight men are bigoted assholes. They really haven’t had to deal with any sort of systematic oppression. Not that that excuses their bigotry, but I understand it.
What I don’t understand is how people who do experience systematic oppression…

Tribalism is the enemy of empathy. People only try and treat others well if they perceive them as being ‘one of them’.

That’s the whole issue I think, they just don’t know how oppressive they are being. Top that with not wanting to feel like you are doing/have done something wrong and, there you go. Not that any of those are excuses.
